Dr. Maurice W. Aiken
Dr. Aiken is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He typically consults with patients concerning their foot and/or ankle and lower leg problems and diagnoses functional issues such as tendinitis, injury/fractures, tumors, infections and deformities that often cause pain or limitations in walking or exercising. Additionally, he closely monitors and employs preventive care and techniques for patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and as a result, who may be at increased risk of foot complications.
Dr. Aiken diagnoses underlying medical conditions that affect the foot and ankle with the assistance of CT scans/MRIs, X-rays/Ultrasound, blood tests and vascular or nerve testing. Often, he is an integral member of a multi-specialty health care team in the diagnosis and treatment of lower extremity problems and works closely with other specialty physicians such as rheumatologists, internists, vascular surgeons, endocrinologists, neurologists/physiatrists and physical therapists. Drs. Aiken firmly believes in the team approach.
Dr. Aiken takes a very conservative approach in his treatment options and will only recommend the surgery after conservative methods of treatment have failed to yield results or if the surgical approach is going to be the best option for a particular foot or ankle concern.
